In order to have a better floor plan, we'd ideally like to relocate our furnace. Right now, the furnace is on one of the outer walls next to the chimney. Ideally we'd like to move it to an inner wall about 30 feet away by "inner" I mean the wall between the basement and the crawl space.
If we were to do that, would the furnace have to vent directly above, or can it be vented elsewhere? Our furnace is a high-efficiency model and is about 15 years old. We would most likely get a new furnace and relocate it at the same time. On a side note, does anyone know why the furnace would have originally been installed on the outermost wall?
