Can you rhino line a boat
I would not apply it to an older boat due to the cost and there is no real guaranty when used for that purpose on the outside. Now I have 3 aluminum boats and I had an aluminum bass boat I sold a few years back. Every one of those hulls has had gluvit applied. It slowly creeps into the seams and is a great epoxy coating.
What is wrong with your hull right now? Is it leaking? What shape is it in? Are you planning on salt or fresh water use? A single 2 lb can of gluvit will seal most "average" boats. I would invite anyone who has used rhino liner on their boat to comment and give the reason why if it was used on the outside of the hull.
I am going to use the glovit on the rivets but i am going to use the marine tex putty on a few places that are a little bigger. Joined Sep 18, Messages 1, Look up a product called Steelflex. It's a 2 part epoxy coating made to seal the exterior of aluminum boats. Joined Dec 12, Messages Probably, not the best person to ask. If you crack it. If it were I, I would take boat to a welder and have him fix holes.

Post by Tsuswimming » Thu Sep 09, pm ok, im going to be running my john boat up on shore quit a bit so would it be smart to put rhino liner on the bottom or no or should i just put a thin strip on the bottom were it will hitt most? I used Dupli-color Spray on bedliner on the bow lower hull imitating a scuff guard for "kid's boat" I am impressed I would re-think the roll-on I think the spray-on is more manageable and you have way more control coverage wise I wouldnt want a black floor but Line-X is ding a lot of boats.
Another trick to think about is the roll on gel coat non skid. This makes for pretty good non-skid and you can match the color of the interior. GOOD info Grizzly Grip Makes a roll on that is inexpensive. I put bedliner on the decks of my boat. It was a black spray in similar to Line-X. Yes, black does get hot in the sun. As far as weight it would be hard to get lighter than dry carpet but carpet can hold some water and sand. If you spray the bedliner on light and don't build it like a pickup bed it will be fairly light, after all you aren't sliding boulders around in your boat so you don't need the full protection.
Also the texture will start to hurt your knees if you kneel a lot. I would look into this www. Comes in color, its good on the feet and cleans easy.
The guy at the dock next to me used this, looks good and he said it was very easy to apply.
